Acts upstream of or within reticulophagy. Located in several cellular components, including cellular bud tip; nuclear membrane; and nucleus-vacuole junction. Used to study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 8. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 8; autosomal dominant adult-onset proximal spinal muscular atrophy; and spinal muscular atrophy.
