The Challenges for the Chemical Sciences in the 21st Century Workshop on Health and Medicine was held on December 2–4, 2002, at the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center in Irvine, California. The goal of the workshop was to identify and discuss new tools and approaches, new methods in synthesis and development, new directions in manufacturing and delivery, and major accomplishments and challenges in the chemical sciences relating to health and medicine.
