Line graph showing ESA-using beneficiaries without chronic kidney disease but reporting intermittent KD. The share of ESA users without CIKD and with cancer reporting intermittent KD rose from less than 1 percent in July 2006 to about one-third in July 2009. The share of ESA users without CKD or cancer reporting intermittent KD increased from less than 1 percent in July 2010 to nearly 10 percent in July 2009. The increases began about the time of the National Coverage Determination.
